Royal Household Long Service medal, often referred to as a 'token'. Awarded to W.J. Godfrey.
Extremely Fine nicely toned and housed in fitted case of issue. Scarce.
Instituted in 1930 and intended to be worn from a watch chain, Royal Household Long Service Tokens were first given to workers on the Royal Estates who had completed 20 years. These 'tokens' were given instead of medals but subsequently many of these were exchanged for Long and Faithful Service Medals.
