The laureate head type of 1826 Sixpence is exponentially rarer than the standard bare head proof issue that was issued in the sets. It is known with both a grained edge and a plain edge, with the plain edge being rare still. We can't find another example of this type offered for sale in the past 20+ years. Excessively rare.
Ex DNW 07/10/2003 (lot 356), where it realised a hammer price of £1,600.
