The obverse is a reduced size copy of the Crown of 1821-1822, reverse showing Royal arms with crest, surrounded by 'A GIFT FROM THE THEATRE OF VARIETY CATHERINE STREET STRAND LONDON'.

Extremely Fine with underlying original brilliance and scarce.

The Theatre of Variety in Catherine Street, London, was a minor playhouse in the vicinity of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane (whose main entrance is in Catherine Street). The obverse is shared with the pattern medallic crowns, now believed dated 1828-29, by Merlen.
