This medal is accompanied by a printed and signed letter by Sir Frederick Radcliffe (Chairman of the executive committee) dated 01/07/1935, outlining the awarding of the medal to Mr D Andrews, as was given to 'each man employed on the building who had then served 10 years of over. This was to mark the 30th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone by King Edward, and the 10th anniversary of the consecration of the first part of the Cathedral in the presence of the King and Queen'.

Another letter accompanying the medal, dated 1971, is from the County Librarian for Salop County Council, in response to a request for information on the medal. It states that they were presented to 46 workmen with over 10 years service by Sir Frederick Radcliffe. About 100 medals were struck.
