Group of 15 x silver horticultural prize medals, all awarded either directly to H.W Mitton.
The collection includes:
- 4 x Royal Horticultural Society 44mm silver medal, awarded 1946 (Northern Counties Winter Show), 1947 (Southport Flower Show), 1948 (Southport Flower Show), 1952 (Southport Flower Show).
- 4 x 38mm Amateur Gardening merit in horticulture silver medals, awarded 1934 (Southport Flower Show), 1935 (Southport Flower Show), 1937 (first prize best specimen), 1939 (Southport Flower Show), plus an additional silver medal on suspension loop, named but undated.
- Southport Flower Show 38mm silver medal, awarded 1952.
- 2 x The British Gladiolus Society 38mm silver medal (one gilt), awarded 1952 (Southport Flower Show), and undated/unnamed.
- Gareners Chronichle 45mm silver medal.
- Home gardening award of merit silver medal.
- The Smallholder Championship silver medal.
The majority of medals are accompanied by cases of issues however most of these are in a poor/broken/mouldy state. The collection also comes with 2 sheets of correspondence, 1 listing the awards for the 1951 season and the other confirming receipt of 2 of the medals.
