1905-06 Prince & Princess of Wales Visit to India. Obverse with conjoined busts, reverse showing a tiger laying under a palm tree, Prince of Wales' plumes to right, rayed Star of India to left. Edge inscribed 'Belvedere 1st of January 1906'.
Suspended by claw and ring. Once cleaned and the reverse therefore bright, the obverse deeply toned, otherwise Nearly Extremely Fine. Housed in Hamilton & Co fitted case of issue. Puddester gives this medal a rating of RR, suggesting less than 50 specimens extant.
On the afternoon of the 1st January 1906 the Princess of Wales held a 'purdah party' at Belvedere, the residence of the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal and this medal was presented to guests.
