Britannia seated with Mercury and Minerva standing before her. 

Awarded to James Mounsey (1710-1773) in 1770 'For Introducing The Seed Of The True Rhubarb'. Mounsey, a physician to the Russian Tsar, is credited with bringing seeds back from Russia to Scotland, therefore introducing Rhubarb to the U.K.

Extremely Fine and housed in original fitted presentation case. This medal is accompanied with the original seal of Mounsey which reads 'Semper Paratus' (always ready), along with two paper labels named to Mounsey, probably to be used as book labels.
