Eimer 1511.

55mm. Silver. 93.08g. By W. Wyon.

National medal for success in art awarded by the science and art department. Engraved on edge to 'Thomas Dutton, Nottingham, Stage 23c. 1880'. Accompanied by a bronze Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce bronze medal, to the same recipient 'For a Design For Lace, 1881'. Also with a smaller silver medal to E. Dutton, dated 1915, for Ruhleben 1st League (11.15g).

The silver medal cleaned, otherwise Good Very Fine, the bronze medal Good extremely Fine and all medals housed in fitted cases of issue. Fascinatingly, these medals are accompanied by a morocco leather bound book, Sketching From Nature in Water-Colours, by Aaron Penley, which was awarded to Dutton by The Science & Art Department for his prize. This is the first such example of a decicated prize being awarded along with these medals that we have seen and is a wonderful addition.
