Good Extremely Fine and housed in Royal Mint case of issue (lid detached at hinges and held together by the silk). Very rare.

The 1973–74 Whitbread Round the World Race was the first edition of the Whitbread Round the World Race. It started off from Portsmouth, England on 8 September 1973. Seventeen yachts of various sizes and rigs took part. The race was won by the Mexican yacht Sayula II, in a time of 133 days and 13 hours. The British yacht Adventure finished second with a time of 135 days and 8 hours, skippered by Roy Mullender on the final leg. During the race three sailors were swept over board and died.
