51mm. Silver. By A.Wyon for Pinches.
c.1888, a silver award of Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple, Marquess of Dufferin and Ava, Viceroy of India and Burma. Obverse with coronet over shield of arms of Blackwood, against a background of shamrocks. Reverse with modified arms of Blackwood, heart in crescent moon with peacock flags of Burma to left and right, no legend. Edge has been later engraved with 'Ulster Rifle Association, 1946, J.N Hewitt'.
About Mint State and beautifully toned. Housed in fitted case, presumably from the time of the later awarding of the medal. Very attractive and very rare.
