Obverse cliche with bust of William Pitt. This intriguing piece is very similar to the lid found on the brass snuff boxes, produced around 1806, but is of a much higher quality. The snuff boxes are not signed on the shoulder and the general detailing and striking is not as sharp. This piece features a small lip around the edge but this looks like it would be too shallow to consider it as a lid for a snuff box, hence its designation as a medal cliche.
